The Nocturnal Affair was the first band up on the Fozzy Fearfest stop in Lincoln, Nebraska. This was my first experience with the band of any kind. Definitely a darker vibe with the music style, but also a melodic side at times too. The Nocturnal Affair’s first single, Down, was released in 2021. A full length album, (Meta)morphisis, released in 2022. And a Depeche Mode cover, It’s No Good, released this year. That song, was a big favorite for me during the show. They definitely put their own spin on the song and made it their own.
The Nocturnal Affair hails from Las Vegas, and is led by lead singer Brendan Shane. Listening to them play you get a sense of the multiple influences they have. On their website they list Type O Negative, HIM, David Bowie, Gary Numan, and Nine Inch Nails as influences.
I thought they were great live. They are still a pretty new band, although this is their 2 nd tour that they have done with Fozzy. They definitely know who they are and sticks with what works for them. It was a fun show to watch, because like all the other bands on this tour, they were in costume during their set. Lead singer Brendan Shane giving off a Corey Taylor vibe with the mask he wore.
I had to look the band up on the web to see what he actually looked like. And the rest of the band was in costume too…which made for some great photo taking. I loved it! Overall, I think they are a good band. Listening to them that night and checking them out on Spotify since, I like what I hear. I’m excited to see how they grow. I hope they come back and I get the chance to see cover them again.
