The Grunge sounds of Jerry Cantrell came rolling into Buffalo, New York at the Town Ballroom on March 19th. With a long line of people around the building and the street and around the corner, NO one seemed to care that it was only 29 degrees outside plus the windchill.
When the doors opened up to the almost 1,000 capacity ballroom people were starting to fill up fast to get a good spot. I am a sociable person, so I always like to talk to everyone at concerts. We usually just talk about where we are from, how many times they have seen the band and just mostly about music in general. That is one place where we are all there for the same reason and people can get a long no matter the differences. Music brings us together. Anyways, I was talking to the one couple from New York and they were telling me that they have seen Jerry in concert 11 times (3 of them on this tour) plus Jerry with Alice In Chains another 6 times. Now that is Jerry fans there. You can’t blame them there. He is definitely one hell of a musician.
Around 9 o’clock, Jerry and his band came stepping onto the stage through the red light light and thick fog as they started out their set with the song “Atone”. Set list to follow. the fans were so pumped when Jerry started playing, as so was I. I mean come on, he was the founder of Alice In Chains. He has collaborated with some of the top musicians and bands in the industry and has multiple Grammy Award nominations with Alice In Chains. His music just draws you in like being hypnotized by his voice.
In closing, this was a really cool designed venue with a great sound system. Jerry absolutely kicked ass and be sure to catch him on the Brighten Tour 2023 now and to purchase his music.
