Who doesn’t love a good shock rock show? How do you describe Wednesday 13 to someone who hasn’t seen them before? If Alice Cooper had an illegitimate child, Wednesday 13 would be his name. I had loosely followed him back during his Murderdolls days, but have really enjoyed the Wednesday 13 era.
They have some great songs and the band itself, has great chemistry and stage presence. They know how to entertain a crowd for sure. This was not my first rodeo with Wednesday 13, so I was fully on board and knew what to expect. Loud and in your face. Just the way I like it. The make-up, the screaming guitars, drums that shake the walls, and more leather then you could ever need.
The setlist made up mainly of Wednesday 13 songs, but some Murderdolls classics mixed in. Some highlights for me included, the opening track When the Devil Commands, Look What the Bats Dragged In, and Decapitation (complete with a skeleton that he can decapitate). And how can you not love the set closer, I Love to Say Fuck! I mean, especially and the day and time, that might be the most appropriate song of this generation. Because…it’s a word that makes the most sense.
The crowd seemed to share my sentiments on that one. They definitely shared their enthusiasm in screaming it during the song. Wednesday 13 is a great band to go see if you want a night off of reality. Come see the spectacle and hear the songs, and scream Fuck! Not a bad way to spend an evening. I encourage anyone who hasn’t seen these guys yet to get out and make the effort. You would not think that this was a family show, but you’d be wrong. There were quite a few families out in the crowd. Some folks just like to start them young.
