So, the odds of getting to see a Led Zeppelin reunion is slim. I have come to be ok with that. And while it is still possible to see Robert Plant on tour, where he will give some nods to his Zeppelin past, but his main focus is on the artist he is now. But the fact of the matter is that these songs are too good not to be heard live. Obviously, this is not Led Zeppelin, but in my book, it is the next best thing that we can get to. I have seen other Led Zeppelin tribute bands, and they were alright. But Jason Bonham is just a notch above, in my opinion.
The band is made up of excellent musicians, James Dylan on vocals, Alex Howland on keyboards and guitar, Dorian Heartsong on bass and mandolin, and Jimmy Sakurai on lead guitar. And obviously, Mr. Bonham on drums. They do an amazing job of playing these songs. And as an adder bonus Jason tells stories throughout the night about his father and his time playing with Plant, Page, and Jones. It’s really cool to hear him tell those stories and get an insight to his experiences.
On this tour, Jason Bonham and the Led Zeppelin Experience is playing the Physical Graffiti album in it’s entirety, for the 50th anniversary of it’s release. They did not stick to the order of the album listing saving Trampled Under Foot and Kashmir to close out the album. They did come back for a three song encore, playing Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll, and Stairway to Heaven to close out the show. I mean, how can you do a Led Zeppelin show and not play those songs? It was a great night of classic songs, performed at a high level. Thank you Jason Bonham for keeping these songs alive and sharing the stories. Check this tour out if you can!
