Chevelle came to Omaha’s Steelhouse and brought the house down. They had a near capacity crowd up on their feet and moving the whole set. The rock veteran’s made their stop on August 12th in Omaha. It was great night, and especially for a Tuesday night. You know it’s a great show if you can get a full high energy crowd on a weeknight. Chevelle has a great following that shows up in force. They have been recording and touring for over 25 years now. They have an upcoming release, Bright As Blasphemy, which should be out by the time this is published.
The band is made up two brothers, Pete and Sam Loeffler. Pete is the lead vocalist and guitar player while Sam is on drums. They are also joined by bassist Matt Scott. This was my first opportunity to see Chevelle, and I loved it. I loved the chemistry of the band, which is tough to beat when your brother is in the band. But the energy and production into the show was top notch too. The set was a 90 minute barrage of classics and new mixed in.
Classics like The Red, Send the Pain, and Comfortable Liar had the crowd singing along word for word. They mixed in a couple of new releases off the soon to be released album, Rabbit Hole- Cowards Pt1 and Jim Jones- Cowards Pt. 2. Both of those went over very well with the crowd. Which is a tall task sometimes when a band that has been around as long as Chevelle, introduces new music during a show. But that was not the case on this night.
Overall it was a great night with two top notch openers ( Dead Poet Society and Asking Alexandria). The Steelhouse is one of the best venues in Nebraska and this type of show is a great place for these bands to come out and show what they have. Catch this tour if you can, it is well worth it!
