The Sword brought their heavy metal show to the Waiting Room in Omaha, Nebraska. The Waiting Room was packed house to hear these guys do their thing. It was great to see a band like the Sword draw such a great crowd. Rock and roll is alive and well in Nebraska. The Sword is currently on the Warp Riders 15^th Anniversary Tour Part II. The album that originally came out in 2015, and rereleased this year as an anniversary edition that includes some bonus tracks. I was not as familiar with the album as a whole, but took some time to really listen to it in the few weeks I had before I knew I would be seeing them. And let tell you, there are lots of classic moments on this album. Strong riffs, great vocals, and killer guitar solos. It really got me excited about seeing this show.

There were two openers that helped The Sword get the crowd fired up. Pink Fuzz out of Denver and Rikshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol. And yes, they were as interesting as what their name suggests. The crowd certainly got their money’s worth with two openers and The Sword playing a 19 song set that included playing The Warp Riders album in its entirety. A surprise for me was hearing them cover the David Bowie classic A Space Oddity.

The encores were Farstar, Daughter of Dawn and one of my favorite moments closing with Freya. It was a fun show to shoot and watch. I caught myself several times watching the crowd as they were very enthusiastic throughout the night. The band sounded amazing. As a first timer to a Sword concert, I was super impressed all the way around. Just a really good, solid rock and roll show. I was glad I made the effort to be there.

If you get a chance to see The Sword, do it. It’s not about a flashy stage show. Just four guys playing some loud rock and roll music. What you see is what you get. And in this case, that is more than enough.
