It was a hot night at the Nebraska State Fair, and it wasn’t just the temperature. Shinedown was in town and touring for their latest album “Eight”. This must have been a strange stop along on the tour for the guys in Shinedown as they have been playing arenas for awhile now. The outdoor venue, TD Landing, at the Nebraska State Fair holds around 7,000 people. A great size crowd for sure, but about half of what they are used to playing to.
So, did the smaller crowd less from Shinedown? Absolutely not. If you know anything about Shinedown it’s that you will always get 110% from them. I have seen them enough to know that they pride themselves on giving the best show possible each time out. And I would say for this show, mission accomplished.
It was also a good night because Mr. Everything Eric Bass was back. He had taken a hiatus to deal with some mental health issues. This was one of his first shows back. He looked very healthy and the fans loved that he was a part of the group again. The setlist included a lot of songs from the new release, which went over really well. It helps when the songs are amazing. They continue to write hit after hit.
The latest by Shinedown, Young Again is topping many charts across the country and world. I would hate to have to make the set list for these guys. So many good songs. There were some definite highlights that got the crowd going. Monster, Sound of Madness, and Cut the Cord to name a few. And of course, when they cover Simple Man, always a crowd pleaser. And the set closer of Second Chance, always ends the show on a high note.
It was a great night, so glad I got to be there. Shinedown will always be a favorite of mine. They care about the music and more importantly the fans. If you haven’t seen them yet, do it. You won’t be disappointed.
