If you’ve ever been to a Sevendust show, you know that you are going to get an all out rock and roll assault from one of the best touring bands around. As emotionally charged set that has the crowd on their feet and singing along from the opening note is the status quo for these guys. So, I was interested in what it would be like to attend an acoustic set by them. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
All the intensity was still there. The crowd, not in their seats and singing along just as loud as always. The band had stools they were sitting on, like most bands do with acoustic sets. But lead singer Lajon Witherspoon seemed to be fighting staying in his stool throughout the night. It’s hard to contain that guy. Sometimes you just have to get up and move to the music. It was a fun to watch and they sounded as good as ever.
Sevendust have been road warriors of late, in the middle now of this acoustic tour and no signs of slowing down once this tour is finished. The set list had a lot of great moments, from the opening with Black and then straight into Disgrace, followed then by Beautiful.
My favorite part of the set was when they did the Johnny Case classic with guitarist Clint Lowry taking over on vocals. He does such an amazing job singing that song. It was such a great moment! Even though it wasn’t Lajon on lead vocals, it was worth the price of admission for that moment. There were many great moments during the night, Angel’s Son and the set closer Face to Face to mention a couple more.
It was fun to see these guys in this setting. It was exactly what you’d want from Sevendust. Acoustic or not, you can’t stop them from being the intense bad that they are. Check this tour out if you get the chance!
