Larkin Poe at Slowdown in Omaha, Nebraska on September 16, 2021
Review and Photos by Bob DeHart Photography
This was a show that I was excited to see and shoot, I’ve been a fan for a few years and didn’t know if they would make it to the Midwest on a tour any time soon. Larkin Poe is fronted by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell. Rebecca sings lead and plays guitar while Megan sings and plays the slide. They have a unique sound- very southern, a little bit of blues, and a little bit of rock.
The set list was made up largely of the Self Made Man album, which was released right before the pandemic hit. Rebecca said they had waited a long time to get to play these songs. They sounded amazing, definitely worth the wait! Like most bands touring now there was a lot gratitude being shown to the crowds that show up. The thing I like most about Larkin Poe is that it’s obvious that these songs and lyrics mean something to them, they are played and sung with passion and a sense of pride. It’s obvious, they love who they are and what they do.
