A little rain did not stop Alice Cooper or his band at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska on this night. As the opening act on the summer stadium tour with Motley Crue and Def Leppard, Alice and his crew got the early opening slot and weathered the storm, literally. The rain did not deter the band from entertaining those who showed up early. Starting promptly at 5:45, they ripped through hit after hit. If you’ve never seen an Alice Cooper show, you are definitely missing out. One thing I can promise you is that you will always get 100% from Alice and his band. They are consummate professionals that rarely if ever miss a beat. They come to entertain you with a great rock and roll show.
I always say that an Alice Cooper show is a like a rock and roll opera. It’s a complete show with plenty of drama…some blood is drawn and maybe a decapitation. Alice doesn’t speak to the crowd between songs, it’s a seamless transition from song to song as though a story is being told. He will eventually talk a bit at the end as he is introducing the band, which is full of top notch musicians. A crowd favorite is lead guitarist Nita Strauss, who just returned from a stint with Demi Lavato and solo tour. Other members of the band are Tommy Henrikson (guitar), Chuck Garic (bass), Glen Sobel (drums), and Ryan Roxie (guitar).
All in all…such a great show. Literally hit after hit. Getting to hear songs like No More Mr. Nice Guy, I’m Eighteen, Under My Wheels, and Poison. Just a few of the great ones played. And as always closing the set with School’s Out. Not a better way to end the set. Alice Cooper is 75 years old. But he shows no sign of slowing down. I’ll go see this show every opportunity I get. You should to, if he decides it’s time to hang it up, you don’t want to be one of the ones who never got to see the spectacle that is Alice Cooper.
