I drove to Council Bluffs to cover my final show of the year, to the Whiskey Roadhouse, to cover the one and only Steel Panther for my last show. What a way to end the year, right? With Steel Panther and the wild crowd that follows them everywhere they go. As I was looking over my shows for the year, I realized that this was actually the second time I was getting to cover them this year. I covered them in Lincoln, Nebraska way back in March. But let me tell you, two times is not too many.
These guys are so much fun to watch. They are all about having fun and playing the rock and roll music. The world needs more reasons to laugh and bang your head, and Steel Panther gives you reasons for both. It was a perfect way for me to end the year. The Whiskey Roadhouse is a bit smaller than the venues that I have seen the Steel Panther guys play in before, and so you could definitely say I was up close and personal with the guys. The pit area is a little smaller there and I almost felt I was invading the bands space at times. You can tell from the photos that I got real close.
As far as the show goes, they were amazing as always. I know I have said this before, but all the guys in this band are super talented musicians, and underrated for sure. They have their niche in the music world, and they work it well. I love the mix of comedy and music. And the songs all have great riffs and melody. It’s refreshing to have a band that is serious about having fun.
They give you a reason to turn of the news and just come out and enjoy a night of fun. Their fans are always a big part of the show with some joining on stage throughout the night. This night, no different. And as always, the fans went home happy. Thank you Steel Panther for giving people reasons to rock and smile each night. I hope this isn’t the last time I get to see these guys. They make my night every time out.
