Skid Row at the United Wireless Arena in Dodge City, Kansas on May 8th, 2022

I am not one who likes change for the sake of change. I was a big fan of former Skid Row singer ZP Theart. For whatever reason, the Skid Row crew thought it was time to move on. And after what I experienced this past weekend, I can say without hesitation, they made the right choice by adding Erik Gronwall to the fold. This kid is amazing! He doesn’t act like he’s the new guy. He commands the stage like he’s been there all along. And I don’t want to hear the “He’s not Sebastian Bach” argument. That’s right, he’s not. He is way stronger than Sebastian with his vocals. Maybe back in the day they could match up, but these days Mr. Gronwall is the reigning champion.

Skid Row is the headliner on the tour with Quiet Riot, Winger, and Warrant. A full out 80’s assault. Skid Row tore into Slave to the Grind to start the set and then followed with The Threat. The seta mainly consisted of hits from the first two Skid Row albums with the new single “The Gangs All Here” thrown in as one of the four encores. The new single, the first to feature the new vocalist, is a great song. Very reminiscent of the early Skid Row music that launched their career. They closed out the set with Youth Gone Wild.

If you are hesitant to see these guys because of the new lead singer situation, but those doubts aside and go see for yourself. Erik Gronwall is the real deal. I am anxious to hear the rest of the new album that will be out in October. I think it will be their best album since Slave to the Grind.
