I was lucky enough to catch John Corabi as the opening act for Tom Kiefer at The Cotillion in Wichita, Kansas on July 9^th. This was my 2^nd time getting to see Corabi as a solo artist. The first time was a few years back when he was touring playing the complete Motley Crue album in its entirety. For Corabi being selected as the vocalist of Motley Crue at the time, could be seen as a blessing and a curse.

Being asked to join one of the biggest bands in the world and making an amazing album together is a dream many singers have. Unfortunately, it was short lived and now, Motley Crue basically ignores that time period of their history altogether. But the bottom line is this, he is an amazing vocalist. And, if you haven’t heard it yet, you should checkout his new album, New Day. It’s a great album, with some great songs.

John Corabi is touring as “John Corabi and Friends”. And his “friends” and all great musicians. He has Troy Luccketta on drums (Tesla), Paul Taylor on keyboards and guitar (Winger), Michael Devin on bass (Whitesnake), and Jeremy Asbrock on guitar (Ace Frehley and Gene Simmon’s Band). It’s a touring all-star group. And they put on an excellent show.

The set list was heavy on his new release, throw in a couple of songs by Union, The Scream, and Dead Daisies. All of Corabi’s bands pre and post Motley Crue. Highlights included the Motley hit, Hooligan’s Holiday and a cover of Midnight Moses. Which was also recorded by the Dead Daisies. A great show overall and a great fit for Tom Kiefer as an opener. They will be on the road quite a bit this summer so make sure you check the schedule and get out and see these guys if you can. It will be worth it, I promise.
