It’s always a great night when you are covering a show, but it’s even a greater night when you are covering a classic band like Night Ranger and you get an unexpected surprise and the opening act is Drew Cagle & The Reputation and they are so good that you become an instant fan. I had never heard of them until I knew I was going to be at this show, truth be told, I wasn’t that excited about them. I was tipped off that they are actually a great band and I should give them a chance.
I showed up early and have no regrets about it. Drew Cagle & The Reputation are straight-ahead old-school rock and roll. They are a pretty new band, their first full album, Bad Attitude, was just released this past year. They are growing a strong following, doing it the old-fashioned way, touring and then more touring. They are from Champaign, Illinois and released their first music back in 2021.
If you check Drew Cagle & The Reputation out on Spotify you will hear some amazing tracks, great guitar riffs, hooks that will keep you coming back for more. They have been a daily listen for me since seeing this show. If I had one complaint, it’s that these guys made me feel a little old…lol…they look so young. But I honestly have no complaints about that.
I feel with bands like this the future of rock and roll is in safe hands. They are a kick in the pants that music needs right now. And my only real complaint would be is that they didn’t have any merch available to buy at the show. I love supporting new acts and helping them in any way possible, even if it is just buying a t-shirt or hat. I encourage you to check out Drew Cagle & The Reputation if you can. You can hear some great songs like Bad Attitude (w/ Tracii Guns), Wine Talkin, and All Figured Out. All of those off the new release. If you dig deeper, you will hear some other great songs too. Keep your eye peeled for these guys. I believe they will be making somethings happen!
