Pierce The Veil is a staple in any pop-punk fan’s heart. From San Diego, California, brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes formed the band in 2006. Guitarist, Tony Perry and Bassist, Jaime Preciado joined in 2007, releasing their debut album “A Flair for the Dramatic” all in the same year. Their third album “Collide with the Sky” in 2012 was when the band caught traction in the music scene, hitting number 12 on the US Billboard 200. After a seven-year hiatus, they released their most recent album “The Jaws of Life”. Although this tour is dedicated to the album, they made sure to throw in many older songs onto the setlist.
The lights dimmed and the smash hit of the new album “Death Of An Executioner” began. The pit squeezed and fans cheered watching the silhouettes of each band member taking the stage. It was not until the second song the lights rose and the cheers grew even louder. This crowd has waited far too long to see their favorite band live.
Pierce the Veil is well known for bringing a fan on stage for “Hold On Till May” every single show. Fuentes searched through the front of the pit and picked a specific girl with no hesitation. He went on to explain seeing her on many different dates of this tour, always riding the barricade, singing every song word for word. He gifted her one of their guitars and serenaded the rest of the song to her. It was a heartwarming moment that showed how much the band cares for their fans.
The band came together for an acoustic version of “12 Fractures”, bringing the lead singer of Destroy Boys to help with vocals. They continued with two more songs acoustically. Before hopping back into their usual high energy, Fuentes explained how lucky he felt to have L.S. Dunes on tour with him, all of the members being his musical heroes when he was young. They finished with “The Jaws of Life” before leaving the stage. This audience wasn’t going anywhere, they knew an encore was in the making.
They closed out with “King for a Day”, their most popular song to date. The crowd was screaming and moshing for the entire song while confetti came down. The band took their final bow and the cheers continued. This show was nothing short of explosive. The lineup had the perfect openers to set the stage for an unforgettable Pierce The Veil show. Whether a new or old fan, they covered it all. Everyone left with their pop-punk hearts filled, on their toes waiting to see them again soon.
