It was a great night at The Astro! The Toadies on tour for their newest album, The Charmer, just released last month. Omaha was lucky enough to get them during this massive tour. There were two openers that got the crowd warmed up, The Vandoliers and the rock veterans Local H. Both of those bands went over very well, but there was no secret who the stars of the show were.

The Toadies have been around for over 30 years now. They have a strong following, that came out in droves to see them. It was a bit nostalgic as there were many families in attendance. Parents brings their kids to see their favorite band from their youth. There was some very young fans in attendance, one as young as only a month old. They were definitely starting that one off young.

This was my first Toadies show, and it was another of those moments were I was sitting there wondering why I had never attended one before. They are a great band, lots of energy and great songs. Lead vocalist, Vaden Todd Lewis still sounds amazing. Many of his counterparts struggle at this point in the game, after recording and touring for 30 years, that does take some wear and tear on the voice, But Mr. Lewis is still going strong.

The setlist mixed in a few new songs off of The Charmer, but there were plenty of classics to keep the faithful up and moving. The new tracks also went over very well, which is also tough for a band that has been around for awhile to throw in new tracks, Sometimes they only want the classics. They opened with an instrumental, Ash’s Theme, off the new album. A few highlights for me were I Walk a Line, Song I Hate, and the classic Possum Kingdom.

Overall, a great night. I was glad I was able to finally see these guys, This is a great tour lineup. Although, I believe it was the Vandoliers last night on the tour. I highly advise you to check it out of you can!
