Sons of Texas and Otherwise in Omaha, Nebraska on July 10th, 2016
Sons of Texas and Otherwise played in front of a Sunday night audience at The Waiting Room in Omaha, Nebraska on July 10th, 2016.
The Sons of Texas, from McAllen, Texas deep in the valley of the Rio Grande, brought forth to Omaha a heavy rock and roll experience that pleased the ears. The band not only played serious metal riffs during their set, but they also showed that they had some blues music in their blood as well. Mark Morales’s vocals were solid going from guttural to melodic throughout their set. The rhythm section kept the band going well by brothers Mike (drums) and Nick (bass) Villareal. Finishing the line up were two blistering guitar players, brothers Jon and Jes de Hoyos, both capable of handling the lead and rhythm guitars. I had wanted to see this band for quite some time based on a friend’s review from two years ago. I had very high expectations coming to this show and Sons of Texas did not disappoint. Be sure to check out their CD, Baptized in The Rio Grande on iTunes.
The second set of the night belonged to hard rockers Otherwise from Las Vegas, Nevada. Led by vocalist Adrian Patrick who teamed up with his brother Ryan, bassist Tony Carboney, and drummer Brian Medeiros. My ears were please with this band. Strong vocals, heavy bass riffs and, rock and roll solos that were kept on pace with the rhythm section. Otherwise will be releasing an acoustic CD soon, so keep your eyes peeled for this one to enter the market.
This was a very good show and all of my friends, family and complete strangers should put forth the effort to see Sons of Texas and Otherwise the next time they roll into town.
