On St. Paddy’s Day 2025, Paris Paloma brought the magic to The Truman in Kansas City at her sold-out show for the Midwest leg of her Cacophony North American Tour. The evening began with a 30-minute set from her opener Sarah Julia, a Dutch sister duo who have an upcoming EP, “Only Making It Worse.” The duo face some small technical difficulties during their performance, with their laptop unfortunately dying during their set. That barely stopped them though- they swapped their songs “Conspiracy Theorist” and “Game of Pretend” and moved along through their set like nothing happened. True professionals.

After Sarah Julia, Paris Paloma kicked off the sold-out show with some very magical, fantasy vibed music for the crowd who showed up dressed for the event. Many patrons, including myself, dressed in a ren faire like fashion, inspired by the old English magic, faerie-esk music Paloma has been known to make. For fans of music like Hozier and Florence and the Machine, Paris Paloma brings a folk fantasy vibe to her music and set.

Paloma first started making waves with her music online during the pandemic with hits like “Narcissus” and “Ocean Baby.” Following her rise to fame, she released “The Fruits,” in 2022 and her #1 hit on streaming platforms and social media, “Labour,” which she recently performed on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Throughout the night, Paloma performed songs off her new debut album Cacophony, such as “Knitting Song,” and “Good Boy”- A personal stand out song for me was her release for the new Lord of The Rings track, “The Rider.” Paloma shared a heartwarming, full circle story about covering Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire,” which was written for The Hobbit, in her early days of making music.

She shared that she was thrilled to have been asked to make a song for the newest film after her rising success. She finished up her show with a moving performance of “Labour,” asking the crowd made up of mostly women to sing as loud as they could for the final few verses of the song. As a woman, it was a uniting experience with other women who are currently feeling unheard in our current society. Paris Paloma gave an overall whimsical, otherworldly feeling show in KC this March. I can’t wait to see her again!
