I had the opportunity to catch Moon Fever the other night as the opening act for Steel Panther at The Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a newer band, it’s not a bad idea to pair up with the guys from Steel Panther, they have a great following and always bring out a great crowd. A perfect set up for a band touring trying to get the word out about who they are. Moon Fever took full advantage of the set up and got the crowd up and moving for the headliners.
Moon Fever is based out of Seattle. They are currently touring for their latest release, the album “Forever Sleep”. They are a high energy band that blends a lot of classic rock/heavy metal elements with something fresh and new. They are led by lead vocalist Tristin Bracht, Mitch Micoley on guitar, Dave Orton on bass, and Tray Wagemen on drums. They ripped through an eight song set that had on their feet the whole time.
They have some great songs, which is pretty key to a good rock and roll show. I had only heard of them a few days before the show, so I took to Spotify to see what was in store for me, and I was not disappointed. It seems they have a pretty good following started with over 43,000 monthly listeners built up. So, while it seems that I may be a little late to the party, I am still early enough to watch these guys progress over the next few years.
My advice is to check these guys out if you can as they continue this tour with the Steel Panther crew. If you are not able to make it to a show, definitely check them out on Spotify or where ever you get your music at. A favorite song of mine is “Nothing Left to Lose”. Such a good song! Keep your eyes and ears open for these guys! They are definitely worth the effort to check out.
