Ministry is officially at the stage where I can’t remember when I first heard of them or heard their music. It just seems they have always been here, and aren’t going away anytime soon. They are as constant as the wind the blows in Nebraska. They bring the same high energy show filled with gritty guitars, pounding drums, and Al Jourgensen’s distinctive voice.

The crowd at Pinnacle Bank Arena was all in from the beginning of the first note. This was my second time getting to cover Ministry, and I have to say that they seem to get more intense as time goes on. With the longevity they have shown, they have to be considered the kings of industrial metal by now. To be teamed up with Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie, is a testament to their reach of fans old and new.

Being the opening act on a double headliner tour didn’t give Ministry a lot of time to dig deep into their arsenal of hits, but they did a good job of hitting some classics with a few newer songs sprinkled in. A highlight of the new songs was “Goddamn White Trash” of their latest release “HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES”.

The classics included “N.W.O”, “Just One Fix”, and the set closer “Jesus Built My Hotrod”. It was a great show to watch, as a dynamic band there was plenty of bright lights and smoke to fill the entire arena. Sometimes the band even got lost in the smoke, it was tough to find them.

I’m glad they are included on the “Freaks on Parade” tour. It’s a good fit and also a history lesson for those new fans that are there. Ministry is a unique brand. They may be an acquired taste for some, but once you get it, you get it. Here’s to many more years of Ministry!
