Lords of Acid at Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 6, 2025.

There was a great vibe and energy at the Bourbon Theatre as the Lords of Acid took the stage. From the opening notes of Voodoo-U, the crowd was up and moving. New vocalist, Carla Harvey knows how to take control of the stage. Her stage presence is second to none. Running from one side of the stage to the next, headbanging, and kicking all along the way. This was my first experience with the Lords of Acid. Because of Carla’s history with the Butcher Babies, I was maybe expecting something a little heavier. Don’t get me wrong, these guys are a pretty heavy live band. But I was not expecting the techno/danced aspect of who they are.
Lords of Acid are currently on the “Praise the Lords” tour and tonight it was with Plack Blague and Little Miss Nasty as the openers. Which, all in all, is a unique blend of all things taboo. Definitely not for the faint of heart. With this tour you get a little bit of everything. It was fun watching the crowd who was wearing a lot of costumes and make up for the Lords of Acid’s set. And as a newcomer to this band, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But they sounded amazing.
Praga Khan, who shares vocals with Carla and plays the synthesizer also has a great stage presence. The energy from the band keeps the crowd moving. Bassist, DieTrich Thrall stalks across the stage as it was made just for him and guitarist Creighton Emerick shreds on the guitar. Carla called upon the women in the crowd to join her on stage during the playing of Pussy. Many took advantage of the opportunity and had their moment in the spotlight. Many singing along word for word and encouraging others in the crowd to go crazy as well. It was super fun to watch.
If you have not seen a Lords of Acid show, and are even mildly curious about it, you should definitely check them out. So much to see and experience all in one show. I’m glad I was able to catch this tour, it left me smiling for so many reasons.
