I was looking forward to this show for a while. I had not had the chance to see or cover Daughtry before and this would be my last show of the year to cover. I had heard a lot about how good they are live but wanted to see for myself what the hype was about. Well…Daughtry definitely did not disappoint. They were in top form from the start of the show. Daughtry is lead by it’s name sake Chris Daughtry who  sings lead vocals and plays guitar throughout the set. Daughtry has a definite signature sound blending melodic hard rock with some great ballads. Daughtry is currently touring for its sixth and latest full album release “Dearly Beloved”. Daughtry has been touring very heavily for this release and this is even his second time back in Omaha since it’s release, and is slated to be back in Nebraska sometime in 2025 already.

The rest of the band is made up guitarist Brian Craddock, keyboardist Elvio Fernandez, bassist Marty O’Brien, and drummer Jeremy Schafer. They are a great band together, playing very tight and feeding off each other. Lots of smiles make it known that these guys love being on stage and playing these songs. A great part of the show though is when Chris comes out with just an acoustic guitar and plays a couple of songs by himself. The first was Home, from his debut album which really got the crowd fired up and had them singing along. The set list had quite a few newer songs sprinkled throughout, which went over very well with the crowd. Other highlights include his Journey cover of Separate Ways and some of the earlier hits such as It’s Not Over and Over You.

Overall it was a great night. I think the crowd can definitely say that got what they came for. I know I for sure did. Daughtry was definitely worth the wait. He has changed a bit over the years, rocking a little bit harder these days and also with both arms tattooed in solid black. We change for various reasons and I’m sure he has his, but as his journey goes, I’m glad he is still sharing the music with us.
