I would say that Black Stone Cherry has to be in the running for Road Warriors of the year. They have been touring almost nonstop since the release of their newest album “Screaming At the Sky”, which was released close to a year ago. They have been around the world and back. And when this leg of the tour ends, they will have a few weeks off and then back at it again. You would think that a road weary band like that would show some fatigue this late in the game.

From what I saw this past Thursday night, you would have thought it was the first night of the Black Stone Cherry tour. The energy these guys bring night after night is unmatched. Especially with guitarist Ben Wells. He may be my favorite person to watch on stage in any band. He is nonstop motion running back and forth, banging his head, jumping, and kicking. You can’t help appreciate what he brings to the stage. This is my fourth time getting to cover these guys, and each time I leave the venue it is with a big smile on my face. They give you all they have, every single time.

Black Stone Cherry has been around awhile now, their self-titled debut came out in 2005. They now have nine full album releases to their name. And if you are a fan like me, there are a lot of songs that you want them to play. Unfortunately, they can’t play all night.

They do a pretty good job of attempting to hit all eras of the band. From the opening with “Me and Mary Jane” (from the 2014 release Magic Mountain) the band was off and running hitting some of the crowd favorites like “White Trash Millionaire”,  “Blame it on the Boom Boom”, “Again” , “Like I Roll”, and of course closing with “Lonely Train”. Throw in a few from the new release and you got yourself an amazing rock and roll show.

I love Black Stone Cherry and can’t wait to see them again. They are a blue collar working man’s group. Chris Robertson’s voice is amazing…so consistent every night. Catch these guys if you can, they are giving you plenty of opportunities.
