Alien Ant Farm in Omaha, Nebraska on July 13, 2016.
Southern California’s alt-metal Alien Ant Farm took the stage next. Singer/songwriter Dryden Mitchell had me at: “Yeah I’m the guy who sings the Michael Jackson song and I got fat!”! Alien Ant Farm is not at all what you expect from Smooth Criminal on MTV’s TRL…thank goodness! They are a supremely tight, polished, experienced, and heavier than expected band. My preconceived notion of them was proven wrong, in just a few songs. Those who came out were lucky to see them in a close, intimate environment as they will be part of the Make America Rock Again tour with Trapt, Saliva, Saving Abel, Crazy Town, 12 Stones, Tantric, Drowning Pool, Puddle of Mudd, P.O.D. and Fuel beginning August 4th.

Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, Perish Lane hit the road with Alien Ant Farm, promoting their EP, “Breaking The Metaphor” produced by Sam Hughes of Phase Flip Audio.
Upon meeting the band, they struck as extremely personable and outgoing…just regular guys. Their opening tune ‘Deficit’ was a hard driving, crisp tune with a very strong solo, flowing bass line and great dynamics. I particularly liked the breakdown as the flowing bass line set up the crescendo back into the hook. ‘Overthrown (https://youtu.be/bbIAJcuer6g) was next.
As I had checked out their video and was familiar the song; I was extremely pleased with the live performance (stage presence, vocals, solos and musicianship). Their 3rd song really brought The Waiting Room crowd to the stage. Get this: Perish Lane’s cover of I’m Just a Girl! A tongue in cheek cover, performed well and a real ice breaker…I giggled just typing this! These guys know what they’re doing and do it well! If they are in your area, go see them.
