Every once in a while I get the chance to cover a show and become an instant fan the opening act. I had never heard of Ace Monroe until the day of the show, they were the support act for Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown. If you get a chance to see some of these young bands working hard to make their dreams come true, you will believe that rock and roll is alive and well. Having the chance to see and hear these guys gives me hope that the future of rock is in good hands. Based out of Nashville, Ace Monroe is a guitar driven, southern rocking, sing along out loud kind of a band. They play with a lot of energy and have a lot of fun in the process. While the crowd was small at the Barnato, they were all in with Ace Monroe. Set list highlights include two of their singles that were released this summer, Summer Heat and Don’t Mind. Both are great songs that make it easy to like these guys. Go to Spotify or whatever your listening options are and give these songs a listen!
I had a chance to talk with these guys after the show, all very nice and humble guys excited to get to play their music for the people. They were a perfect match for the headliners. This tour saw them playing mostly smaller venues, but if the word gets out on these guys I don’t see it staying that way. You should definitely catch these guys if you can live. But as with any artist, support them by buying their records, merch, or streaming them as much as possible. It’s a rock and roll cause, and these guys are well worth the effort.
