If you have never seen Fleshgod Apocalypse live, run don’t walk to the next arena that they are playing. They are a full on metal experience that is not anything you may have ever seen before. They are a death metal band that mixes in opera type music and themes. And with that combination, it turns their show into a unique experience that is pretty awesome to witness. And the crowd was eating it up the whole time. They have a great following in Nebraska. Many in the crowd was seeing them for a second or third time.

Fleshgod Apocalypse hail from Perugia, Italy and have been around since 2007. I’m ashamed to say I was not familiar with them or their music until I got to see them on this night at the Steelhouse in Omaha. They were one of the two openers for Avatar on their current tour. They call themselves an “Italian symphonic death metal band”. I say it’s a fitting title for sure. They have a dramatic flair and stage presence that makes you feel as though you are at an actual opera in a theater.

Fleshgod Apocalypse is made up of Francesco Paoli on guitar, Vernica Bordacchini on vocals, Francesco Ferrini on piano, Eugene Ryabchenko on drums, and Fabio Bartoletti on guitar. Their latest album “Opera” came out in 2024. I highly recommend you check it out. It’s a different twist than you get with most death metal bands. It’s not something that thought I would like, but after catching the show, I stand corrected.

You should definitely check these guys out if you are looking for something different. I have enjoyed getting to know them through Spotify and seeing their live show. I recommend listening to “I Can Never Die” and “Healing Through War” which were two of my favorite tracks they played at the show.
