The second stop of the Slaughter to Prevail North American tour hit The Pageant in St. Louis at full force. The sold-out crowd was packed from wall to wall, ready to riot through the night. From the moment the first opener, Atilla, took the stage, the energy in the room was already palpable. The Atlanta metalcore force did exactly what an opener should: begin the chaos. The pit opened into a mosh, and crowd surfers were flowing over the barricade. Even if the crowd didn’t know the band, that didn’t stop the energy one bit. They left the stage with plenty of new metalhead fans.

While the crowd was still buzzing, Whitechapel followed, bringing an even heavier deathcore presence into the venue. Frontman Phil Bozeman took a moment between songs to thank the audience for “keeping metal shows alive,” a statement that felt especially real given the nonstop movement in the crowd. The standout moment came when they dug deep into their discography and unleashed “Vicer Exciser,” sending longtime fans into a frenzy. It was brutal, nostalgic, and full of electric energy.

By the time Slaughter to Prevail took the stage, you’d think the venue was already at an energy fever pitch… but they pushed it into overdrive. Walking on stage with their iconic masks, they opened with “Bonebreaker,” wasting no time asserting their dominance. The crowd was overflowing with excitement, feeding off every breakdown and guttural scream. Alex Terrible proved exactly why he’s one of the most well-known vocalists in modern deathcore. During “Viking,” he shocked the entire room by pulling away from the microphone and delivering his raw vocals completely unassisted. I felt it down my spine, all the way up on the venue’s balcony. It was one of those rare, jaw-dropping moments that instantly put itself into the memory of everyone in the room.
Beyond the brutality, Alex also took time to connect with the crowd genuinely. Pausing between songs, he expressed deep gratitude to the fans. In a show built on intensity, it was a reminder of the fans beyond the chaos and how much the fans truly mean to him.

The setlist was relentless and didn’t slow down for a moment. “Russian Grizzly in America” and “Bratva” turned the pit into complete mayhem. During “Conflict,” The band created a wall of death in the pit, forcing the fans to open up the floor and demolish into each other on the first scream. It was an amazing type of chaos that was entertaining to watch. When the band returned for the encore, there was no question what was coming. “Demolisher” explosively closed the night, sending the entire venue into one final eruption of chaos.
Slaughter to Prevail delivered an unforgettable metal experience. Judging by the exhausted, sweat-soaked crowd pouring out of the Pageant, it won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
