I have been lucky enough to see From Ashes to New a few times already. And I have to admit that the first time I wasn’t as familiar with them. But as time as gone on and I have had the chance to get acquainted with them, they are quickly becoming one of my favorite live acts. They seem to get better each time I see them. The Bourbon Theatre is actually the smallest venue I’ve sever seen them play in. You would have not known that by the performance though. It was all out energy from start to finish. It was a rough nigh though for lead vocalist, Danny Case. He admitted to the crowd that he was struggling with a very painful neck injury. There were times that it was noticeable that he was in pain, but he powered through and did whatever was necessary to entertain the near capacity crowd.
It was a dynamic show all the way around. The lights and special effects added to the vibe of the show, but honestly, the music was so good they could have had the crowd up and going with none of the extra stage show. This was one of the most enthusiastic crowds I have seen in awhile. Lincoln, Nebraska is a big fan of these guys. Vocalist Matt Brandyberry even made a comment of Lincoln becoming a second home for the band. With a set list chocked full of hits, leading off Nightmare and Dead to Me.
It was a great set for these guys, barring the struggles Danny Case had with his neck. That being said he was a trooper throughout the night. They are definitely a unique band, with two lead vocalist and mixing of rap and hard rock. There are not many bands out there that can or do pull this off. They not only pull it off, the excel at it. The fan base that follows them to each show speaks to that. If you have not experiences a From Ashes to New show, you need to. You get a little bit of everything.
