Collective Soul at Steelhouse in Omaha, Nebraska on February 11, 2025.

It was a bitterly cold night in Omaha and Collective Soul came to town to bring some warmth to the people. I was a little worried what I might encounter, with the bitter cold and a big snow storm moving into the area, what kind of crowd would show up, and on a mid-week show none the less. Well, the people of Omaha did not disappoint. What I found was a near capacity crowd that had the Steelhouse buzzing with energy from the time the doors opened. It was impressive to witness also considering there was no opening act.
Collective Soul currently on tour made the stop in Omaha as a make up for a show that was postponed from the summer. Lead singer Ed Roland stated that he had a nose bleed that would not stop, embarrassed that it wasn’t for something more cool, and then chalked up it to just getting older.
The show itself was top notch. I can’t help but think that when bands encounter crowds like the one that showed up in Omaha on this night that it just helps the showmanship go up a notch or two. It was obvious from the beginning that the crowd was hyped for this show and that the guys in the band were enjoying themselves throughout the set. Helping Mr. Roland out on stage is Jesse Triplett on lead guitar, Dean Roland on rhythm guitar, Johnny Rabb on drums, and Will Turpin on bass. They have so many hits that they could rely on them for a whole show, but they did mix in a few new songs and a couple of classic covers. For me, highlights included Shine, Precious Declaration, Heavy, She Said, and the set closer Run.
It was a great night of rock and roll fun. I was glad I braved the weather to check out the show. These guys definitely have a great following in Omaha, which makes me feel like they will most assuredly make a trip back again. If you can catch them on this tour, you should. Lots of great songs and energy. Just plain fun, and who can’t use more fun?
