This week, alternative rock band Dead Poet Society lit up the stage at The Bourbon Theater with an intense performance that had the crowd buzzing from start to finish. The venue was packed, mostly for the headliners Highly Suspect, but there was definitely a large contingency of Dead Poet Society fans in attendance. The crowd was very enthusiastic and eager to experience the band’s unique blend of gritty vocals, dynamic rhythms, and powerful energy.

Opening with their hit single “CoDA,” the band wasted no time setting the tone for the evening, once they were able to start. There was a slight technical difficulty issue that delayed the start a few minutes. Lead singer Jack Underkofler’s  stage presence was magnetic as he connected with the crowd on many levels. Guitarist Jack Collins was on point throughout the night.

This was my first time seeing Dead Poet Society and was pleasantly surprised at the chemistry between the band members. Since they were the opening act, they had a shorter set. But they still had the audience headbanging and jumping in unison from the start. Other set list highlights were Hurt, American Blood, and In Too Deep. Obvious crowd favorites

The lighting and visuals were minimal, yet effective, they had a cool backdrop of the cover of their latest release, FISSION. Dead Poet Society proved that they don’t need excessive production to deliver a memorable show—their sheer musical talent and onstage charisma were more than enough. Of course, from a photographers point of view, I’d always be happier with a little more light. In short, Dead Poet Society’s concert was an exhilarating rollercoaster of emotion and sound. I was impressed with the energy that was expended, and they still had some left for the headliners that night.
