It’s always a great night when you get to cover one of your favorite bands. And for it to be a sold out show, makes it even greater. Dorothy did not disappoint, she had the crowd up and singing from the opening note. The Whiskey Roadhouse in Council Bluffs, Iowa was rocking for the whole set. Dorothy is currently on tour supporting her newest release, The Way. Which is an amazing set of songs, some of the best she’s released to date. A highlight of the record is a collaboration with Slash, which is the current single, Tombstone Town. Which made for an excellent set closer for the night.

Dorothy’s band is top notch, they always bring a lot of energy and play loose. Obviously enjoying playing these songs. Her band is made up of Sam Bam Koltun (one of the hardest working musicians in the business), bassist Eliot Lorango, and drummer Jake Hayden. They are a tight knit bunch that feed off of each other throughout the set. It is fun to watch and they sound amazing! Dorothy’s vocals are amazing. She sounds amazing on the record, but her live vocals are legendary. Even though I’m working to get photos and cover the show, I can’t help get caught up as a fan and be drawn into the performance.

The set list was made up largely of songs from her new release. There were some older favorites played, Down to the Bottom remained the opener as from previous tours, which is a great song to open with.  She also played Ain’t our Time To Die, Raise Hell, Gifts From the Holy Spirit among others from earlier albums. If I had one complaint, it would be we didn’t get to hear Flawless. But, even without that song, it was an amazing show. This is a show I would see again and again. You should too, or at least check it out once. And give the new album a try. It has a little bit of everything.
