If there’s one thing that can still light up a room with a killer guitar solo, it’s Trixter—the New Jersey-born glam metal band who’ve been bringing the heat since the late ’80s. On April 10th, they rolled into Mercury Music Lounge in Lakewood, Ohio, and delivered a high-energy set that proved the Spirit of 1989 is still alive, loud, and totally unapologetic.
The venue was packed with diehard fans and curious newcomers, all there to get a taste of that classic Trixter magic. From the second Steve Brown hit the stage with his signature guitar swagger, and PJ Farley laid down those tight, thumping bass lines, the crowd was all in. They launched into a blistering set full of fan favorites like “Rockin’ Horse,” “One in a Million,” and of course, their biggest hit, “Give It to Me Good.” The energy never dipped — it was pure, unfiltered glam metal, the way it was meant to be heard.
What makes a Trixter show special, though, isn’t just the music — it’s the vibe. Steve and PJ aren’t just amazing musicians; they’re performers who genuinely connect with their fans. And that night in Lakewood, they proved it once again. Before and after the show, instead of ducking out or hiding backstage, they hung out with the crowd. That’s right — selfies, autographs with the fans who’ve been riding with them for decades. I of course had to jump in there and get my pic with the guys.
For me, that was the coolest part of the night. Watching a band that’s been in the game this long still make time for the people who’ve supported them? That’s what rock ‘n’ roll is about. Passion, connection, and never forgetting where you came from. Trixter’s Spirit of 1989 Tour isn’t just a trip down memory lane — it’s a celebration of a sound and a scene that refuses to fade. And if you get a chance to catch them live? Don’t miss it. These guys are still giving it to us good.
